Follow-up thoughts: SDGC, New York

Last week the Service Design Global Conference 2015* took place in New York. ExperienceFellow was a proud sponsor of the conference and Marc and Jakob joined the conference. Now Marc tells about his experience at the conference.

“I really enjoy to be part of such a vibrant and active community. It’s great to see service design maturing and that the community now talks much more about implementation and business impact of service design projects. A service design project does not end with a nice customer journey – this should be just a communication tool aiming for some real impact on customer or employee experience.

We were really happy that our message “Base your customer journey map on f***ing research” received such a wide attention. Too often we see assumption-based journey maps that are used as a basis for innovation projects. And too often these fail because the underlying assumptions are not tested. This is one of our motivations behind ExperienceFellow: How can we make qualitative design research more accessible for a wider group of people? How can we overcome some of the hurdles of ethnographic approaches?”
